How BLUETTI’s LAAF Program Is Changing Lives in Africa (May 2025 Update)

18/06/2025

The availability of stable electricity continues to exclude large numbers of families and educational organizations throughout Africa. BLUETTI is working to change that. That’s why we launched the LAAF (Lighting An African Family) program —to bring clean energy and well-lit living environments to underserved communities across the African continent. Since 2023, BLUETTI LAAF has delivered solar solutions to 10 African regions and provided power to 15,000 families.

The LAAF program expanded to two Kenyan and Nigerian communities in May 2025 thus providing lighting for hundreds of students through its solar power systems. Deyo Tuwo Comprehensive High School in Nigeria conveyed a heartfelt message to us, which stated: “Thank you for proving that sometimes, a simple tool can spark a lifetime of impact.”

The solar kit delivery of 80 units to Mutundu village in Kenya and the Imewuro community in Nigeria became possible through support from China Square in Kenya and Teach for Nigeria. This represents more than a donation—it represents a connection that opens doors to possibilities. Many additional African schools remain in need of lighting solutions. We’re on our way.

Brighter Beginnings at Mutundu Primary School, Kenya

In Kenya’s Mutundu village, a unique primary school is nurturing dreams through difficult circumstances. The students of Mutundu Primary School include every type of learner, and a dedicated class for children with autism. The school maintained its welcoming atmosphere, yet the students faced an ongoing fundamental issue of power unreliability.

Determined to change that, LAAF partnered with China Square, a trusted local retailer known for its strong community ties. The donation included 30 solar lighting kits for classroom use alongside essential school supplies such as backpacks and learning materials from China Square.

The classroom wiring installation was completed by our team members, who trained staff to maintain the solar systems at the time of equipment setup. The children's faces lit up when the lights turned on. Students experienced their first undisturbed study session because the lighting system operated continuously through any power outage.

Empowering Deyo Tuwo Comprehensive High School, Nigeria

In Nigeria’s Imewuro community, darkness is more than a lack of light—it’s a barrier to opportunity. Although connected to the national grid, daily blackouts isolate residents from modern conveniences. And the off-grid status of Deyo Tuwo Comprehensive High School forces all classrooms to remain darkened and students to stop learning after sunset.

That changed in May 2025. LAAF responded to Ms. Olamide (Ruth) Adesina's passionate request when she reached out as an active member of Teach for Nigeria and dedicated educator. We delivered 50 solar kits to the school following her story and student determination before installing and showing the equipment in action.

The installation of lighting at the school enabled teachers to extend their teaching hours and students could study under reliable clean light while they prepared for exams. A student spoke softly to me as their first classroom became illuminated: “I am able to read books without using my mother’s phone flashlight.” A simple statement expressed the fundamental principles of LAAF.

Light as a Seed of Change

During May, LAAF brought light to dozens of Kenyan and Nigerian classrooms while creating new learning prospects for students. The solar-powered light beams delivered a powerful message to the community that all people deserve access to illumination regardless of their distance from urban areas.

Our program continues to welcome more communities together with educators and partners to help us create a continent that gives reading capabilities to children at night and enables teachers to develop their lessons without discomfort, while dreams can expand without limits.

Because when the lights come on, everything changes. Together, we’re not just powering homes—we’re powering hope.
