How BLUETTI’s LAAF Program Is Changing Lives in Kenya (April 2025 Update)

11/07/2025

The population of sub-Saharan Africa faces an electricity shortage affecting more than 600 million people. BLUETTI is working to change that. That’s why we launched the LAAF (Lighting An African Family) program—to bring clean energy and well-lit living environments to underserved communities across the African continent. Since 2023, BLUETTI LAAF has delivered solar solutions to 10 African regions and provided power to 15,000 families. In April 2025, we took new steps toward this vision, partnering with local leaders and reaching remote villages in Olokurto, Kenya.

As Ms. Jennifer Koikai, Director of Kenya Culture Centre, told us, “Your support has brought light and hope to our children and has made a meaningful difference in many lives. Your contribution is more than just a donation; it is an investment in the future of our children. The primary pupils are now better equipped to learn, dream, and grow, thanks to your kindness and commitment to empowering underserved communities.”

In Olokurto, the Kenya Cultural Centre became a vital bridge between BLUETTI and the region’s only school. With their support, the logistics of delivering and installing 100 solar kits in a mountainous, off-grid region became possible. These are not just numbers or deliveries. These represent accounts of persistent determination along with collaboration that bring about stories of how light can restore hope.

Lighting Up Olopirik’s Future

Olopirik stands isolated in the mountainous region northwest of Nairobi, yet its residents show remarkable determination. The Olopirik Primary School operates as the sole educational facility within a vast area where hundreds of students walk extensive distances to learn. While the school itself has electricity, many of the students' families still live without power—making it nearly impossible for children to study and revise at home after sunset.

When the school reached out through the Kenya Cultural Centre, the LAAF team listened—and responded without hesitation. We prepared 100 solar lighting kits for households that needed them most, after being inspired by the dedication of teachers and the hopeful voices of children in the area.

In April, our team made the journey to Olopirik. The community expressed genuine affection as teachers and students, and local leaders joined hands to celebrate. The Kenya Cultural Centre joined us for a handover event that marked the start of a fresh period for this close-knit community.

Our engineers worked closely with school staff to install and demonstrate the solar kits; meanwhile, we also provided training for students and families, empowering them to use and maintain the systems for years to come.

Today, 100 student households in Olopirik shines-both literally and symbolically. As dusk falls over, students continue their studies at home. Families gather in the evening without fear of darkness. The clean light beams bring forth fresh possibilities to each area they illuminate.

With each solar kit installed, we light more than homes. We light up dreams, safeguard health, support education, and restore a sense of agency to people long underserved by the grid.

LAAF April in Kenya

Light Is Just the Beginning

In April 2025, BLUETTI’s LAAF program reached one of Kenya’s most remote regions, delivering 100 solar lighting kits and a powerful message: every family deserves light, no matter how far they live from the city.

As we look ahead, LAAF will continue expanding into more communities across Africa, working hand in hand with local leaders, schools, and families to build a future where energy poverty is a thing of the past.

Because when the lights come on, everything changes.

Together, we’re not just powering homes—we’re powering hope.

FAQ

What is the LAAF Program?

The LAAF (Lighting An African Family) Program represents an initiative by BLUETTI that delivers sustainable, clean energy to families and communities without access to power in Africa. BLUETTI dedicates itself to CSR activities by concentrating on clean energy solutions and community outreach, and sustainable product development. Through the LAAF Program, BLUETTI plans to deliver solar power systems to one million African households while lighting up homes and creating educational equality.

How does the LAAF Program work?

Each BLUETTI AC300 or AC500 purchase enables us to provide a complete solar power system to an African family in need. BLUETTI also works with local NGOs, schools, and governments to select communities requiring assistance and to establish successful delivery and implementation processes.

How can I support the LAAF Program?

You can support the LAAF Program through the following methods:

  • Each purchase of BLUETTI AC300 or AC500 units enables the donation of a complete solar power system to African families in need.
  • We accept partnerships with charity organizations and welcome volunteers to join our team.
  • Make a direct contribution. You can initiate the LAAF@bluetti.com email address to begin your involvement.

We will give you a trophy and a thank-you card while showing you the illuminated African regions through the BLUETTI App, which features real stories about the program's impact.

What are the BLUETTI AC300 and AC500?

The BLUETTI AC300 and AC500 are advanced modular backup power systems designed for off-grid living, emergency backup, and sustainable energy use. Known for their high capacity, fast charging, and versatility, these units empower users with clean energy—anytime, anywhere.

As part of the LAAF initiative, for every AC300 or AC500 sold, BLUETTI donates a solar power system to a family in Africa facing energy poverty. Your purchase doesn't just power your home—it lights up someone else's.
